Dean’s Dominion

The main purpose of this Web site is to teach myself HTML, CSS, XSLT, and other aspects of Web publishing, so there won’t be very much here of interest to anyone else.

My rants on various subjects

Occasionally I write letters to my member of Parliament or Legislative Assembly, or to the editor, usually the Edmonton Journal.

Memberships

I am a member of the following organizations.

Reference

These are some reference tables I have put together for myself.

If you would like to drop by for coffee (I use good beans and grind them just before brewing), please feel free. My home is located in the northeast quarter of section 20, township 52, range 25 west of the fourth principal meridian. More precisely, it’s at 53.5095° north latitude, 113.6459° west longitude, and 668 m above mean sea level. That’s 12UUE245322 in the Military Grid Reference System.

My motto: “Confortare et esto robustus”

The motto I use in the signature of most of my e-mail is from the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible, Joshua 1:9.

Ecce præcipio tibi confortare et esto robustus noli metuere et noli timere quoniam tecum est Dominus Deus tuus in omnibus ad quæcumque perrexeris.

In the King James English version (original spelling), the passage is:

Haue not I commanded thee? be ſtrong, and of a good courage, bee not afraid, neither be thou diſmayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee, witherſoeuer thou goeſt.

With the spelling modernized it’s:

Have not I commanded thee? be strong, and of a good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee, withersoever thou goest.
