Over the last 10 years I've worked on the integration of traditional art making techniques and new (off the shelf) digital technologies (computer graphics/ video/ multi-media).
When I began working with computers, the available equipment was quite crude. Some of the things I needed I had to build (audio digitizer, computer controlled para-robotics system for stop motion photography/videography, switching systems, etc.) and program (3D imaging software,et-cetera).
Earlier, I used the computer to plan out my compositions, colour schemes, et cetera, and this was integrated into paintings (requiring a lot of time to transpose). With the advent of faster computers and better hardware/software I have dedicated myself more to using this media, on its own, to create my art work, and still be pleased with the results.
This gallery represents a portion of the art work I have done resulting in a purely digital end product.
I still believe that nothing can replace the "factura" (working with traditional materials: paint, canvas, paper, etc.) in the art making process, but there are a lot of exciting things that can be done with the computer that proves its worth as an invaluable tool to the artist.
